Young Madill FFA members had a successful fall season with their Leadership Development Events (LDE). These contests, including Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Quiz and Creed, are designed for 8th & 9th grade FFA Members. Starting in September, thirty-one of these members traveled to six different contests held in Marlow, Rush Springs, Stratford, Coalgate, Piedmont and Tishomingo. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies contest consists of six members all performing one chapter officer part. This mock meeting ceremony is then judged by a panel of judges and ranked accordingly. Many of the contest sites held multiple rooms to accommodate 40-60 teams from schools all across the state.

Starting the year off at Marlow, five Madill teams participated and they brought home a 1st, 3rd and 5th place. Jackson Harper placed 2nd overall in the Greenhand Quiz Contest. Then they traveled to Stratford where six Madill teams participated and they placed 1st, 1st, 3rd & 3rd in the four rooms of competition. The next stop was at Coalgate, where six teams competed in six rooms and placed 1st, 4th, 5th, 5th, & 5th. Harper placed 4th overall in the Greenhand Quiz.

Members then traveled to Rush Springs. They brought home banners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Piedmont was the final statewide open contest this group attended. Three teams participated and one team place 2nd in a room of 18 teams. Harper was 2nd overall in the Greenhand Quiz contest at Piedmont.

A panel of alumni members and supporters were asked to be judges in order to select the sixperson regional team.

The Atoka Region consists of five counties: Marshall, Johnston, Coal, Bryan and Atoka.
