Fall is upon us. The cooler nights and warm sunny days of fall make for great days. The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and the holidays with sweet treats and fun activities are in sight. From family-friendly fall and Halloween events put on by the churches and neighborhoods, to craft and art shows, Marshall County seems to have it all.

Sunset Drive in Madill announced that they will be having a decorating day for Halloween. Residents have until October 15, 2021, to transform their homes into a wonderland of spooky spirits with their enchanting decorations.

LaJeanne’s Plants ‘N Things is having a fun little scarecrow contest on October 16, 2021. They are asking everyone to get creative, make your scarecrow, and bring him or her to their location in Enos. There will be first, second, third, and fourth place prizes consisting of $100, $50, and two $25 gift cards. Also on October 16, there

On October 19, the Marshall County Health Department is partnering up with the Chickasaw Nation and hosting a free drive-thru flu vaccine event. It will be held at the Madill Community Building, 810 South Second Avenue. It will start at 10 a.m. and go till 3 p.m. It will be available for ages nine years and older. They ask that you wear short sleeves and not to bring your pets.

The Marshall County 4-H Horse Club has a series of playdays available this month. October 16, and 23, the books open at noon and events start at 2 p.m. for $5 an event. The events consist of barrels, poles, straight barrels, figure-eight stakes, and flags. They have classes for all ages from ages six to adult. All the proceeds go to support the 4-H horse club.

On October 22, 23, and 24, the Madill Art Show will be hosting their 60th annual art show, at the Marshall County Expo Center - The Madill Art Club’s Diamond Jubilee. The art show promotes artists of all ages. They showcase over three hundred individual paintings including watercolors, oils, acrylics, mixed media, and pottery. Awards and prizes are distributed in different categories such as still life paintings, portraits, landscapes, animals, and more.

The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce will be throwing a Give Back Bash for the Chamber Members on October 23 at Bridgeview. It will be free to the members. The event will consist of food, drinks, music, and casino type entertainment for the night. It will be an outside event starting at 6:30 p.m.

Also, on October 23, there will be the Fall Fun Fest held by the Kingston First Assembly of God Church. It will start at 10 a.m. and run till 1 p.m. The event will consist of food, drinks, carnival games and activities, along with photo options with special characters.

Oakview Baptist Church in Madill will be having an outdoor Fall Festival on October 27. It will start at 5:30 p.m., and end at 7:00 p.m. It will be outside the Family Life Center of the church where there will be food, games, candy, coloring contest, Memory Verse booth, and more.

October 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Madill High School Speech team will host a baked potato sale as a fundraiser. The team is excited to announce that they will have pulled pork as well this year. They will be located at the First Baptist Church in Madill and are offering deliver or pickup. The cost is $10 a plate.

Marshall County Fright Fest Bass Tournament will be hosted by the Madill High School Fishing Club on October 30. The event will start at 6:30 a.m., meeting at the Madill City Lake. Lines will have to be in by 7:30 a.m. and out by 1:00 p.m. Entry fees are $25 a person. It is a one-man event and minors must be accompanied by an adult with parental or guardian consent signed that morning. The event is open to bank fishing, fishing vessels 14; and shorter with electric, pedal or paddle power. No gas-powered motors on the boat are allowed. The group is allowing fishing anywhere in Marshall County. There will even be an optional big bass side pot with hundred percent pay back.

For all the creative crafters out there, the Marshall County Craft Fair will be held on October 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. The event will be at the Madill Community Building in the William Ray Park. Looking for a safe place to take your kids Halloween night in Kingston? Look no further. The Kingston Police Department and Texoma Events are hosting a Trunk or Treat event on October 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the KMAC. There will be games and prizes offered for the best costume.

The annual Trick-Or-Treat event on the square In Madill will be on October 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Local businesses and organizations will line the “Square” giving out treats. There will even be music along with different games and fun activities for the kids and families to participate in.

Lastly, the Madill First Baptist Church will be hosting their annual outdoor Fall Festival on October 31 at 6 p.m. There will be tons of food, games, music, and of course… candy!
