We’re going into March with some much-needed sunshine. With the time change to move ahead one hour on March 8, we will appear to have more daylight for a while anyway.

I wanted to mention that owners of the Marina, Tom & Karen Wootton have been dealing with some major medical concerns with their granddaughter who had a heart transplant on Feb. 2. Please pray all will continue to go well for her.

It is with heartfelt remorse that our very own Clint Merrick passed this last week. All who knew him enjoyed his stories and seeing him riding around on his golf cart to visit. He will be deeply missed. Condolences to Bonnie and his family.

The “Burning of the Socks” event to be held on Saturday, March 14 is fast approaching. Be sure to get signed up for the Chili Cook-off, which will be judged at 11:00 a.m. Please contact Paulette Owens at 580-230-8053. More information to come as the event nears.

The Buncombe Creek Ladies Auxiliary is looking for new members. Be sure to come to our next meeting on March 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Shay Community Center. The cost of membership is only $10.00.

We will be having a Bake/ Rummage Sale in May to help with batting and material to make quilts for the nursing homes and duffel bags for the foster children to hold their belongings. We will also be having fundraisers throughout the year to help with our contributions for Inca and the food pantries. The Auxiliary members are ready to welcome new people. Come and join us.

A reminder that the Kingston Schools will be out on Spring Break March 16-20.

Also, the youth at Texoma Southern Baptist Church will be serving Mexican

Pile-on Thursday, March 19 at 6:00 p.m. as a fundraiser for their summer camp. Be sure to stop by and support our youth.

The “Open Arms Clothes Closet” will be open Saturday, March 21 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the church as well. “Happiness is not by chance, but by choice”. Have a safe week.
