As I have mentioned, the Texoma Fire District is changing from a Title 18 to a Title 19 fire department, and one of the changes will be establishing a board of directors consisting of five members; one of which will serve for five years, another for four years, three years, two years, and finally, one year. One of these directors will be selected as Chairperson and another as Treasurer, as well as a clerk.

Anyone interested in learning more about these changes, or wishing to serve as a board member, please attend the meeting on August 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Texoma Fire District Training Center. All members of the Texoma Fire District, whose dues are current, are invited to get a better understanding of all the changes. Also, if you are interested in being on the Board of Directors call Paula Zimmerman at (590) 565-9229 for more details.

There is still a need for more volunteers, anyone belonging to the Texoma Fire District is eligible to become a volunteer. All adults, male or female, interested in joining the Texoma Volunteer Fire Department, please contact Chief Todd Cissell at (580) 565-4491 or pickup an application from the mailbox at the station, fill it out and return to the station. Chief Cissell will contact you. Everyone is welcome, so consider joining. The fire department truly needs your support.

Remember, in changing to a Title 19 Fire Department our firefighters will become eligible for participation in Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and retirement system. Of course, all eligibility requirements must be met, including a one-year probation period.

Thank you and everyone stay safe!
