The month of October is upon us and I hear we will see two full moons this month.

With the cooler temps, it is perfect weather to get that firewood in and stacked for the cold winter months ahead.

The Buncombe Babes Red Hats met for their luncheon on Friday, October 2 at the Magnolia Café in Durant. The food was delicious, and the ladies all enjoyed sharing what they have been doing these past months.

The Lake Texoma Association is still looking for donations for their yearly auction and banquet to be held at Little Glasses Resort on Friday, October 30 starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be prizes for best individual, couples, and group costumes.

To purchase tickets, please call 580-564-2334. The proceeds help to further efforts to retain the integrity of Lake Texoma while promoting tourism in the area. Be sure to attend, it sounds like a fun evening of events.

Members of the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Department attended the Flammable Gas Emergencies/LPG course that was hosted by the Madill Fire Department. Thanks to everyone that spent the day training.

Also, a reminder to everyone to attend the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Departments Open House being held on Saturday, October 17 from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. There will be free Hot Dogs, chips, and cookies. Also, the Kingston Pharmacy will be giving flu shots (bring ID & insurance cards).

The Lake has come down -2.58 from full pool. It is nice to see some beach area. Jurassic Park saw quite a few visitors this past year and we want to thank Jimbo Edwards and Bill Johnson for keeping up with the weedeating and brush hogging. I know there are so many others that pick-up trash and keep the area looking great. Thanks to everyone for making it such a nice place to go for swimming, picnicking, and fishing. Stay safe and enjoy our autumn days.
