As we celebrate the Fourth of July, it’s important to honor its tradition. It’s more than just a day off work or a chance to enjoy fireworks; it is an opportunity for us to unite as a nation, celebrating our shared heritage and reaffirming our commitment to freedom, liberty and unity.

Celebrating the Fourth of July allowsustoexpressgratitudeforthe freedoms we often take for granted. It is an occasion to honor those who have served and continue to serve our country, including our armed forces, first responders and public servants.

We must acknowledge the sacrifices made by countless individuals throughout history who fought to protect our rights and uphold our democratic values.

During the Fourth of July, we often see a tourism boost for local economies, which generates significant revenueforourcommunity. We are fortunate to have two incredible lakes in our district, Lake Murray and Lake Texoma, which bring a wide range of tourism opportunities and offer visitors to experience nature, culture and adventure.

This week these lakes will see an influx of tourists, increasing revenue for local businesses. Even though the Fourth is full of celebration, staying safe is essential. Remember to clean up after festivities, follow firework display protocols, and stay safe on the lake.

Celebrating the Fourth of July is not merely an annual tradition but a reminder of the principles and values that define us as a nation. By commemorating our history, fostering unity, expressing gratitude, and embracing hope, we strengthen our collective identity and commitment to freedom and justice.

As we gather with friends and family, remember the significance of this day. Happy Fourth of July!
