Two wrecks in Oklahoma in just as many days negatively affected local families and communities.

On October 2, at approximately 12:26 p.m., Kendra Parker, a 33-year-old from Tishomingo was driving southbound on US 377. For unknown reasons, Parker traveled left of center and struck a dump truck traveling south.

Parker, a math instructor at Murray State College, was killed on impact. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

Parker left behind many people who loved her. Jennifer Tarver posted on Parker’s Facebook page, saying how much the teacher meant to her.

“Kendra you have been my bestie since we were 13 yrs old. I can not believe what happened today. I loved everything about you, your joyful attitude always, Giving, compassionate, never spoke bad of Anyone. A good daughter-granddaughter and this best friend I ever had and ever will. I can not believe you are gone. You will be forever missed.”

On October 4, Randell Edison, a 19-year-old male from Kingston was driving on the Indian Nation Turnpike near Pittsburg County at 11:49 a.m. Reports show Edison hit a rut in the road, and overcorrected. This caused the 2012 Nissan he was driving to overturn.

Edison’s mom, Patricia Edison said her son is doing well. The day of the wreck, he had surgery on his left arm to repair a blood vessel. He also had a surgery on Sunday to place a pin in his thumb on his right hand.

She said he might have to have some skin graphs done, but currently, they are waiting to hear from the doctors.

Patricia started a fundraiser on Facebook to assist with medical bills not covered by insurance. Anybody interested in donating can go to Patricia’s Facebook at Patricia Edison to access the fundraiser.
