Hopefully, everyone made it through the Labor Day Weekend unscathed. The weather is ever changing, so we never know what the day will bring at this time of year. Autumn begins September 22, and time is moving quickly into fall.

The Buncombe Creek Ladies Auxiliary will finally have their meeting on Tuesday, September 15 at 11:30 p.m. at the BC Volunteer Fire Dept. This is the first gathering since March when the Pandemic began. Let’s hope for a good turnout. The matters of business include a potluck and feasibility of the group’s continuance for the future. Also, that evening the Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. will have their monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the fire station. Drop by and show your support. I also heard the Shay Community Center may start back up in the near future. Let’s see what develops.

The members of the Buncombe Creek Neighborhood Assn. installed the three buoys a few weeks ago at the beach area in Jurassic Park, as well as a float rope accessing each one. They hope this will help create a safer environment for swimmers as the boats will know to go slow and be aware. Also, Big Foot’s son joined him at the park so you may want to go take a peek. The Buncombe Babe’s Red Hat group will be meeting at Applebee’s in Durant on Friday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. As always, everyone has a wonderful time enjoying the fellowship and delicious food they get to enjoy during their monthly luncheons.

I think gardens are about done with these days. The heat got to mine, and the harvest was rather poor this year. I only managed to get some onions and cucumbers for the most part.
