The Primary Election is a few days away, and Marshall County residents are gearing up to head to the polls. The Republican ballot has a slew of candidates for residents to choose from.

There are four Republican candidates running for Oklahoma Governor alone. That is not counting all the other spots that are up for grabs.

The four candidates running for the Republican nomination for governor are the incumbent, Kevin Stitt, Joel Kintsel, Mark Sherwood, and Moira McCabe. Steven W. McQuillen and Cindy Byrd are the two republican candidates running for State Auditor and Inspector. Attorney General has Gentner F. Drummond and John M. O’Connor vying for the spot. David B. Hooten, Clark Jolley and Todd Russ are running for State Treasurer.

Superintendent of Public Instruction have William E. Crozier, April Grace, Ryan Walter and John Cox running for the seat. Keith Swinton, Sean Roberts and Leslie Kathryn Osborn are running for Commissioner of Labor. Corporation commissioner has Justin Hornback, Todd Thomsen, Kim David and Harold D. Spradling fighting for the position.

Jackson Lahmeyer, James Lankford and Joan Farr are all hoping to win the United States Senator spot. The United States Senator unexpired term has 13 candidates. They are T.W. Shannon, Adam Holley, Randy J. Grellner, Alex Gray, Paul Royse, Laura Moreno, Nathan Dahm, Jessica Jean Garrison, Michael Coibion, Luke Holland, Markwayne Mullin, John F. Tompkins and Scott Pruitt.

The United States Representative District 2 has a long list of candidates running, as well. They are David Derby, Josh Brecheen, Guy Barker, Pamela Gordon, Wes Nofire, Johnny Teehee, Avery Firx, Dustin Roberts, Clint Johnson, Rhonda Hopkins, Marty Quinn, John Bennett, Chris Schiller and Erick P. Wyatt – even though Wyatt stated at the Marshall County GOP meeting on June 16 that he was backing out of the race.

Residents will also be voting for county and district offices when they go to the polls. Josh Cantrell and Richard Miller are both running for State Representative District 49. The County Commissioner District 3 seat is also coming available. Incumbent Chris Duroy and Pete Bridgman are vying for the spot.

The Democratic ballot is a tad smaller than the Republican. Joy Hofmeister and Connie Johnson are both running for the governor Democractic nomination. Brandon Wade, Madison Horn, Arya Azma, Jo Glenn, Dennis L. Baker and Jason Bollinger are all running for United States Senator.

The Primary Run off will be August 23 and the General Election will be November 8. A sample ballot can be found on page 7A.
