When Madill City Manager James Fulligim appointed Donny Raley to interim Chief of Police earlier this year, Fullingim gave him a threepoint plan to work on for the Madill Police Department. First was to work on recruitment for the department, second was to make efforts to “Build Better Relationships” with other city departments, and third was to encourage more “Community Policing” and working on community relations.

Since taking over as his new role, Chief Raley embraced the challenge and has worked to make strides in meeting this goal.

“We are making great strides on the three areas the City Manager challenged me with,” Raley said.

Raley talked about the recruitment process.

“Numberone, recruitment is still an issue, as it is all over the state. We are talking to potential candidates. One has been hired and we are hopeful to fill the remaining two vacancies soon.”

“The second was to build better relationships with other departments within the city,' he continued. 'At this time, all departments are working very closely with oneanotherandwillcontinue to do so.”

He continued with the last point and how working with the community is his favorite part of the plan.

“Thirdly, and probably my most favorite, is community policing and community relations. We are making huge steps on working with the citizens and being seen in the public eye.” Raley said. “We have great relationships with our schools and are being present in the school buildings. We have talked with classes, read to classes and will continue to build that bond.”
