Imagine, the low murmur of background music playing “Cadillac Ranch” by Chris Ledoux, from his 1992 record “Whatcha gonna do with a cowboy.” Now, the scene is set for an amazing Jedi Chef Travels story.

If you’re cruising down Interstate 40 through Amarillo Texas on the old route 66, you will encounter a unique but worthy roadside stop. The Cadillac Ranch is a public art installation and sculpture.

Thisphenomenonwascreated in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Doug Michels, who were a part of the art group Ant Farm. The installation consists of ten Cadillacs - 1949–1963 -buried nose-first in the ground. Some of the cars were either running or junk cars.

Together spanning the successive generations of the car line, these cars define evolution of their tailfins. The cars are inclined at the same angleasthepyramidsofGiza.

Cadillac Ranch is visible from the highway, and though located on private land, it can be accessed by driving along a frontage road and entering the pasture by walkingthroughanunlocked gate. In addition, spray painting graffiti, which can be purchased, on the vehicles is encouraged, and the vehicles, which have long since lost their original colors, are wildly decorated.

Ant Farm artists have encouragedthiskindofpublic interaction with the cars. So, make your way out west and leave your mark on one of the most beloved tourists stops in Texas. If it is going to be a while before your visit, here is a little tasty recipe to get your taste buds motor running.
