Andre Lewis is a 14-year-old boy from Madill. When most teenagers are worry-free and hanging out with their friends, Andre has to worry about his health. In February, Andre became ill and was diagnosed with Lupus – an autoimmune disease that attacks your own tissues and organs.

Taking a turn for the worse, Andre was hospitalized on July 4, 2020, and later transferred to OU Children’s Hospital in an ICU room. He has received five units of blood and countless other medical procedures.

His mother, Leella Parker has not only been forced to worry about her son, she herself has medical problems. On top of the medical issues both must have to face, the past few years have been hard on Andre and his mother.

In December 2018, Parker’s husband passed away suddenly, leaving her a single parent. Many struggles and homelessness followed that incident. Then, in January 2020, Parker’s mother Hilda Williams, the glue that held the family together, passed away.

The Marshall County community is trying to raise money for Parker and Andre to assist with bills and medical costs. A GoFundMe was created and circulated around. Unfortunately, it has not picked up much steam. The goal is $5,000, and it has barely made a quarter of that amount.
