Choctaw Nation presents check to breast cancer

Durant, Okla. - The Choctaw Nation will presented a check totaling $160,000 to Susan G. Komen to educate, fight and detect breast cancer. For the sixth consecutive year, Choctaw Nation has raised money to help advance the search for a cure, took preventative action by offering free mammograms and spread awareness by participating in breast cancer walks. 100 percent of the sales from t-shirts, specialty cocktails and guest donations as well as a donation from the Choctaw Nation make up the $160,000.

Abbie Lee, CEO of Susan G. Komen was presented the check by Jamie Dillard, Senior Executive Officer of the Division of Commerce.

The event occurred in the Redbud Room at Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant.

The Choctaw Nation is the third-largest Indian Nation in the United States, with close to 200,000 tribal members. The first tribe over the Trail of Tears, the historic boundaries are in the southeast corner of Oklahoma.
