Memorial weekend is behind us and folks are gradually getting out more and more, although precautions are still considered a healthy choice.

A reminder that the Texoma Southern Baptist Church here in Buncombe Creek will resume their full activities as of June 7 th . Currently the church is open for Sunday am services only.

This Friday, June 5 th at 7pm, the Kingston Graduating Class of 2020 will be conducting their ceremony at the Kingston Multi-Purpose Activity Center. Each graduating senior will have 6 tickets to allow for family members to witness the cap & gown ceremony in person. Also, a live broadcast will be available for those who cannot attend. Congratulations to all of you!

In just a short while, the Buncombe Creek Ladies Auxiliary will be conducting their 1 st . Annual Rummage/Bake Sale to be held at the Shay Community Center on Saturday, July 4 th . The proceeds will help benefit the charities and local organizations the club donates to each year. The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. will also be there to promote their upcoming cookbooks. Your donations willbe greatly appreciated!

I was told that due to SODA restrictions, the Shay Community Center probably will not be available for larger group settings until August or September. Hopefully by then, the Pandemic will be tapering off and a vaccine in tow.

On Friday, July 3 rd , a golf cart frenzy will start gathering at the Southern Oklahoma Baptist Church parking lot. Prizes and monies are distributed to the best in the various categories… and then the parade begins, with bystanders cheering everyone on. It is great fun!

The 15 th Annual Mickey Brown Memorial Fishing Derby will be coming up Saturday, July 4 th in Twin Ponds! There will be toys and prizes awarded and free hot dogs and drinks! Right after the Fishing Derby, the 12 th Annual Twin Peaks Water Work’s Turtle Races will start! Please bring your own box turtles and see which one will win! The fireworks display held at Lakewood Manor will follow at dusk and has always proven to be a lengthy and fascinating display! I will have more information on the Regatta as well as the Fishing Derby when more is made available to me. Stay safe and have a good week! “Be a change that you wish to see in the world”.
