Folks are still seeking normalcy in this world of anxiety, shutdowns, and Covid-19. We are all hoping for an end to this nightmare with a vaccine available soon. Try to stay positive that “this too shall pass” and move forward.

The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Department has been busy with their Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) training class being taught by Kenny Power, EMS Director from Johnston County.

These students sacrifice their personal time, which is approximately 60+ hours class time, to better serve our communities in Marshall County.

Kudos to all who have stepped up to be there for us in case of an emergency.

Also, we have three of our firefighters who have finished their Hazardous Materials Operations training. Anyone interested in volunteering their time to the Department, please contact John Callaway at j.d.callaway@sbcglobal.net.

The Buncombe Creek Neighborhood Association has a raffle started. Ricky Bell has donated a set of handmade corn hole boards and bags to raffle off on August 18.

The marina store will be selling tickets at $2.00 each or three for $5.00. Just ask for D’Linda. A huge Thank you to Ricky. The entire proceeds will go toward improving Jurassic Park.

On Sunday, July 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Randy Tatarevich Band will be entertaining us with some good ole two-step music to be performed at the Marina parking lot. Bring your lawn chairs and drinks and enjoy listening and dancing the night away.

It is wonderful we have so many free activities to enjoy in this area. Be sure to come on down.

I just heard that the Sand Bass festival that was rescheduled for August is now cancelled and will resume next year at the normal time, pending the Pandemic outcome. I haven’t heard anything yet on whether the Bash for Cash will proceed in October as planned or rescheduled until next year as well.

Try to stay cool and drink plenty of water, as the days are still hot and humid with the scorching month of August just ahead. Take care and we’ll talk to you next week.
