Gee, it has been a real scorcher these past few weeks, folks! If you’re not out early to check the garden or go for the daily walk, it most likely won’t get done; too HOT! Stay hydrated and indoors if you can.

The Fourth of July weekend went smoothly for the most part here in Buncombe Creek. Fun activities and fireworks provided a nice closing for the weekend.

Jurassic Park was full the entire time with families enjoying the beach and water. Most picked up after themselves, although, there were a few areas that were cleaned up by our local neighborhood folks.

Thanks to everyone who helps keep the area clean!. There have been a few thefts in the area, so please keep things locked and put away. Unfortunately, with the influx of tourists around our area, we need to be vigilant.

The Buncombe Creek Fire Dept. is among a few that have volunteers beginning their EMP training this year. I’ve heard there is a good amount of interest this year. More information will follow.

The Texoma Southern Baptist Church will be open Saturday, July 18, 9:00 a.m. to noon for their “Open Arms Clothes Closet”. It is a good time to get summer clothes and shop for back to school items.

The Buncombe Creek Ladies Auxiliary had a good turnout for their Rummage/Bake Sale which was held on July 4. They made a little over $500.00 to help with the needs of local charities. Thanks to everyone who donated and attended.

The Kingston Public Schools will start their first day on August 6. The children seem to start back earlier each year!.
