Ben Hernandez

BenHernandez,attheage of 18, has already made a name for himself in the realm of sports and academics. Born to Laura and Agustín Montes, Hernandez said he grew up in a supportive and nurturing environment that laid the foundation for his success. With grandparents like Frank Davis and siblings like Pablo and Monica, he said his family has played a significant role in shaping his character and instilling values of perseverance and dedication.

Hernandez has been a part of the Madill Schools since Pre-k. He said that cross country and track have become an integral part of his high school experience, shaping his character and teaching him valuable life lessons.

Hernandez recalled his favorite memory that happened during his sophomore year. He said spending time with his friends and upperclassmen made a significant impact on his life. Running every morning with this group of individuals created a bond.

In the realm of sports, Hernandez said he found inspiration in one of his upperclassmen from his sophomore year. This individual took the time to guide and mentor Hernandez, constantly reminding him of his potential for growth. His determinationanddrivewere further fueled by a younger teammate who pushed him to go beyond his limits.

Beyond sports, Hernandez said he finds inspiration in various aspects of life. He looks to different sources to shape his character and aspirations.

To his coaches, Ben expressed his gratitude for their patience and guidance over the past four years. Ben recognized the invaluable role his coaches have played in his athletic journey.

He said his gratitude extends to his parents, as well. He thanked them for never suggesting that he quit, even during challenging times. He acknowledged that some of his teammates have faced discouragement from their own parents, and he feels fortunatetohaveneverheard those words.

Looking towards the future, he said he plans to continue his academic journey.
