Audit for 2018-2019 school year presented at monthly school board meeting

The Madill Public Schools Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Feb. 10 inside the Administrative Center Conference Room.

Four of the five board members were present. They were: Mike Mathis, Shannon Williams, Clay Savage and Mark Glenn. The fifth board memberJeff Landgraf was absent.

The board heard the presentation of the annual FY 2018-19 audit by Michael Kemper of Jenkins & Kemper, CPA’s. The audit was accepted and approved by a 4-0 vote.

The board reviewed and accepted the following items on its consent agenda:

c) Activity Fund Report

d) Activity Fund Transfers

The school board members then agreed to enter into a contract with Jenkins & Kemper CPA’s, P.C. for the 2019-2020 school year audit.

The board then approve the NUSO contract revision for the remainder of FY20 as presented.

The next item ite on the agenda was discussion and possible action to approve the 2020-2021 school calendar. The calendar was approved by a 4-0 vote.

The ninth agenda item was discussion and possible action to approve the calendar revision for 2019-2020 due to school closure for inclement weather on February 5 and 6.

MPS superintendent Larry Case said the item was added to the agenda after the recent snow days.

“Since I did an outstanding job nailing the snow day,” Cases joked with the board.

Glenn made a motion on item to approve the calendar revision and Savage seconded the motion. The motion passed by a 4-0 margin.

During Case’s superintendent report, board member Savage asked when the fine arts building would be completed.

Case responded that the contractor has advised him it should be completed by August for the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

Case said MPS has talked about adding more concrete behind the fine arts building.

“I’m just saying with building there can also be issues,” he said. “On 8th Street we put a drive thru. We’re gonna go with cement but we don’t know how far.”
