TheFamilyHealthCenter of Southern Oklahoma has been a staple in Marshall County for years.

The business was incorporated in 2002 and received approval from HRSA for FQHC/CHC funding in November 2003. They opened their doors in January 2004.

The main site of the Family Health Center is located in Tishomingo, Okla. They also have satellite offices in Coalgate, Atoka, and Kingston.

Tina Davis, CEO, said she decided to open the business while working for Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH). She saw the need for affordable healthcare for patients, especially those on fixed incomes, such as Medicare patients. The business also aimed to provide healthcare to underserved and underinsured patients and retain family physicians in the area.

Davis said her favorite memory since opening the business is completing the Tishomingo Building and moving into it. They experienced rapid growth, going from a 5,000 sq. ft. building to a 15,000 sq. ft. building in a year. This marked the beginning of a fast-growing business.

Davis worked for JMH for 10 years before starting FHCSO and started in administration. Later, she completed her Associates in RespiratoryTherapy.During her time at JMH, she juggled various duties and tasks, including grant writing for the hospital.

Davis has been living in Johnston County since 1991. Her daughter, along with her husband and five children, also resides there. The rest of her family lives in the Hydro, Okla. area, where she grew up on a family farm/ranch.

She said her plans for the business include completing the Atoka building and expanding their services.
