The Madill Wildcat wrestling squad lost their away game on January 7, 2021 to the Sulphur Bulldogs, 18-3.

During the Thursday night game, the lone points for Madill came after a near pin by Colby Sandefur in his bout in the 152-weight class. Sandefur was able to take Cale Crowell down on the mat and kept trying to find various moves to take him to a pin. In the end, Sandefur took the victory in the three periods, scoring 6-1.

Otherwise, Madill took it tough on the chin, with consecutive pins by the Bulldogs. Starting with the 113 and 120 weight class matches and finishing with the 170-weight division.

The young squad is showing signs of improvement, particularly filling a lineup card more. However, the Wildcats did have four wrestlers who did not have an opponent in their respective weight classes. Five other weight classes did not see a wrestler compete from either school, including the heavyweight class, which normally features Madill’s Griffen Williams, thus ending a short night and trip for the Wildcats.
