The Wildcats traveled to Marietta on Friday, September 11, 2020 to tackle a win against the Indians. The Wildcats clawed their way to victory with a 42 to 14 win.

Head coach Chad Speer said he was proud of the team’s performance.

“I thought our defense played outstanding. They really stuffed the run and tackled well,” said Speer.

Even though they scored a win, Speer said there were some things that could have gone better.

“Disappointed that we didn't run the ball better, but our backs ran hard.”

The first half didn’t come without penalties that hurt the Wildcats. Despite the penalties, Madill managed to put 28 points on the scoreboard in the first half, leaving the Indians scoreless.

Junior Quarterback, Kendall Robertson had a total of 272 yards. Junior, RJ Morris had the first touchdown with a total of 55 yards for the night.

Senior, Hunter Clevenger with 11 yards scored the second touchdown

Speer said the penalties could have completely changed the outcome of the game.

“Obviously not pleased with the penalties, especially dead ball penalties,” said Speer. “We have to understand penalties can kill a drive on offense and extend one on defense.”

To kick off the second half, Junior, Nick Northcutt had 98 total yards with a touchdown.

Speer noted that there were many mistakes made during the game.

“We killed ourselves in the red zone tonight,” he said. “We had multiple opportunities to score more points but didn't because of mistakes.”

Wildcat Sophomore, Stephen Sisco, garnered 48 total yards for a touchdown. The Wildcats have a bye on September 18, and Speer said he hopes to keep the winning train rollling.

“I think the bye week will be good. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going,” said Speer. “We still have a lot of work to do and a lot of things we need to improve heading into districts. Dickson is a good football team that will present us some challenges.”

The Wildcats will travel to Dickson to take on the Comets on September 25. Kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Speer said he admires all the support given to the Wildcats by the fans.

“We appreciate all the people who traveled to Marietta to support our guys and hope to see them in a couple of weeks at Dickson.”
