Léonie Hamm is a senior basketball player at Madill High School. She is a foreign exchange student from France, and this is her first year attending Madill public schools. She lives with with Brenda and Tabitha Holloway.

Her mother is Patricia Cassagne and her father and stepmother are are Vivien Hamm and Anne Lambotte. She has two brothers named Joachim Hamm and Quentin Braine, as well as a dog named Moka.

She said she didn’t play sports in France, but she spent her time visiting museums. She said the most physically challenging thing she has ever done was run in a marathon in her own country.

In her free time, she enjoys listening to jazz music, taking piano lessons once a week, watching movies, taking pictures, and exploring new landscapes and environments. Hamm said that she is extremely grateful for her parents who gave her the opportunity to come to America and immerse herself in the culture and learn English.

Since the beginning of the school year, she has participated on the girls’ basketball team. Her favorite memory so far from the season was when she was given the opportunity to play at the end of the scrimmage and scored.

Hamm said that originally, she got her inspiration from her dad and brother because they introduced her to the passion of sports. However, since she has started playing this year, she is very thankful for the coaches and her teammates for taking the time and patience with her to help teach her the sport.

Hamm said above all, her mother has been her biggest inspiration and that she has learned a lot in life from her. She said she plans to attend a scientifique college (college of science) in France and learn to play the drums. Her advice for the younger classmates is to make your objectives in life a fun experience and is something you enjoy doing.
