Jimena Guevara, a senior goalkeeper on Madill’s soccer team, crossed over to the gridiron and has made a name for herself, becoming the first female kicker for the Madill Wildcats in years.

Guevara is a Madill native and has attended Madill since head start. Her proud parents are Jose Andres and Maribel Guevara. She has three brothers and three sisters, Candy, Julia, Arturo, Andres, Tobith and Camila.

She is involved in football, soccer and band. Throughout her four years in high school she has received Rookie of the Year for soccer, made the All-district soccer team for the past three years, along with making the SCOBDA honor band for three years in a row as well as Rookie of the Year for band.

Guevara said her favorite memory from the past four years was the night she got her first field goal at the Madill vs. Tishomingo game on August 20, 2021.

She said she owes thanks to her parents for their support and care.

“I would like to say thank you so much to my parents for all they have done, especially when it comes to my activities and sports because without them, I wouldn’t have the support I do now,” she said. “Also, I want to thank them for making me become a better person so I can have a bright future! I love you mom and dad.”

She also said she her coaches were a huge part of her life, as well.

“I would like to say a huge thank you for my coaches, because without them I wouldn’t have become the athlete I am today,” Guevara said. “Also, I’d like say thank you for giving me the opportunity to play football. It has been incredible because I never thought that I would be playing this sport at all in my high school career.”

She shared her thoughts for her underclassmen.

“Enjoy high school as much as y’all can and make as much memories as possible, because you only have 4 years of high school, and they will go by fast,” she said. “If you want to try or do something new, go for it and don’t let anyone stop you. Give it all you got and make these years the best.”
