Javier Gomez is a senior basketball player at the Madill High School. He is the son of Javier and Bianey Gomez and a brother to Ximena and Rey Gomez. He has attended Madill public schools since kindergarten. He currently plays basketball and soccer; however, they are not the only sport he has participated in. He has participated in cross country, track, football, and baseball.

He said his parents have been influential in his life.

“My parents are the two people that have inspired me to live a fulfilling life. Whether it be playing my favorite sports and games or doing chores and working. They have been there for me every step of the way and I will always be grateful for the sacrifices they have made to allow me to pursue my dreams,” Gomez said.

“I want to thank them for always being there for me and being my biggest fans. I love making them feel proud of having the best son I can be,” he continued. “I am forever grateful to them, along with the support and encouragement I have received from my other family and friends when playing sports!”

Gomez’s favorite sports memory is from his sophomore year when they won the conference championship. He noted that his coach helped shape him into who he has become.

“Coach Brett Weiberg is the best coach I’ve ever had,” Gomez said. “He has inspired me the whole way. I appreciate the time he invests on a daily basis to make myself and the entire team the best team to be a part of.”

After high school, he is considering going to college or to just become an entrepreneur, or maybe selling cars. His advice to the younger classman is to listen more, learn the plays, and always leave 110% on the court or on the field.
