Isabel Sanchez is a senior at Madill high school who participates in cross country and track.

She has attended Madill public schools all twelve years. Her parents are José Luis Sanchez and Rosa Espinosa. She has two brothers named Mario Sanchez and Josue Sanchez.

Sanchez has many accolades, but she said there is one that sticks out to her the most.

“I have won many medals, trophies, and plaques over the years but the one that stands out the most is when I won the 4A 2021 Regional Meet at Waurika on October 23,2021,” Sanchez said. “Being the 4A 2021 Regional Champ is also my favorite memory from track.”

Over the years, Sanchez said her biggest challenge was pushing herself to be the best she could be for her senior year. Originally, Sanchez said her inspiration for track and cross country comes from her two cousins Miguel Duran, a graduate from last year, as well as Anthony Sanchez who is also a senior graduating from Madill this year.

“I saw the two of them and I thought it would be fun,” she said. “I joined and I fell in love with the sport right away.”

She said she wanted to thank the ones who believed in her and pushed her to excel.

“Thank you, Coach E., for coaching me and believing in me. Not only have you made me a fast runner but a confident one,” Sanchez said. “It was fun running those mile repeats with you even though I was dying. Thank you for driving me all the way to Arkansas. It was a great experience, I felt horrible by the way.”

“I’m going miss you Coach,” Sanchez continued. “I would also like to thank Coach Mchatton. She is the new assistant coach, and she has done amazing. Thank you for the motivating and loving messages you send us. Thank you for believing in me and coming to Arkansas with me, as well. I’m going to miss having you as an assistant coach next year.”

When it comes to inspiration in life, Sanchez said her parents have inspired her because of their hard-working qualities, the sacrifices they have made, the kindness they have shown, and because of how strong they are when things get tough.

“Thank you, mom and dad for always being there for me and giving me great advice. If it wasn’t for y’all I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now,” Sanchez said. “I wouldn’t be the athlete I am right now. Y’all taught me to be positive and have a good attitude. Thank you for watching me run and supporting me. I love you Mom and Dad!”

After high school, Sanchez said she plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University to major in nursing and run cross country and track. Her advice for the younger class is to,“be positive, have a good attitude and mindset. Give it your all in everything you do because it won’t be long until you get to be a senior like me.”
