Body

Hoop It Up is a is a league that provides opportunities for boys and girls in the fourth and fifth grades. It allows them to learn how to play as a unit by joining a basketball team and compete against other teams.

This not only gives them an opportunity to play but also helps them improve and develop their basketball skills as they get older. The program also gives the high school kids the opportunity to help on Saturdays at the games and allows them to be a mentor and engage with the youth that participate in the league.

The league will be run a little differently this year. Due to Covid-19, the league will not have a draft team option for Madill players. They are asking for the teams to already be put together and have a coach selected.

Each team consists of up to 10 players max and must be of the same gender – no co-ed teams will be allowed.

Cost of teams to enter is $300 per team, no matter if the team has 10 players or not. The teams are also responsible for providing their own jerseys. The league will not accept any team entry money or forms until the week of January 23, 2021.

The league uses the money received from the teams to help promote basketball for all ages at the Madill Schools.

Last year, it was used to help purchase a basketball shooting machine for the high school, along with equipment for Coach Estes to use in the Elementary.

There will be a mandatory coach meeting, and the date is yet to be announced. For anyone interested, follow their Facebook page @ Hoop It Up League to stay up to date with league information.

Due to the league using Madill School facilities, if Madill Schools or Madill school basketball gets shut down, the Hoop it Up league will be shut down as well.

There will be Covid-19 rules and precautions and player waiver forms that will be required to be filled out and returned for each player and coach.

Even though the date to sign up a team has passed, there are still other ways one can assist. For anybody with questions, contact Lindsay James 580.677.0966 or Kathy Glenn 589.677.2128
