Emily Ortloff is a senior at Madill High School and the daughter of Steve and Amy Ortloff. She has two brothers, Jeffrey and Ryan Ortloff. She has attended Madill Public Schools for her entire school career.

Ortloff has been a part of the Madill band since sixth grade. She has played the trumpet for seven years and French horn for three. Besides her many years of participation in band, she has also attended art classes for three years and was a cheerleader her sophomore year.

In her free time, she interns at the Madill Early Childhood Center for the school counselor, Mrs. Hoedebeck. She said Hoedebeck has made a huge impact on her life.

“She is a big influence on me, and her kind words are always helpful,” Ortloff said. “I love getting to see all the kids and I enjoy helping the teachers as well. We have lots of fun.”

She has been to many competitions over the last seven year. She said receiving superior ratings at regional, as well as state were her favorite marching band memories.

“One of my favorite memories from band is when Mr. Hasty told us about our results at the regional marching contest last year. I had never seen everyone so excited before,” Ortloff said. “When it comes to inspiration, my friends in band are my inspiration because they are so talented.”

Her words of wisdom to the younger class are to make time for your friends and to just have fun.

Her plans after high school are to go to college at the University of Oklahoma or the University of North Texas and major in psychology.
