Thomas Dale Austin

Thomas Dale Austin 81, of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Medical City Hospital in Denton, Texas. He was born on January 29, 1939 in Downers Grove, Ill. to the late James Austin and Alice Rivett Austin.

Tom was raised in Illinois and later moved to California. He received a bachelor’s degree in science and worked for 35 years for the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician.

Tom married Dixie Mildarene Weldon on December 20, 1962 in Pixley, Calif. In 1996, he moved to Madill where he was active in the community. Tom served on the City Council and as Mayor while owning and operating his business, Riteway Towing. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kingston and he enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. Tom loved telling jokes and his animals.

He is survived by his wife Dixie Austin of Madill, Okla., his children Kevin Austin and wife Patty of Madill, Okla., Brian Austin and wife Kim of Madill, Okla., and Lynetta Johnson and husband Sam of Madill, Okla., his grandchildren; Michael Austin, Lauren Austin, Zachary Austin, Sarah Boggs, Shane Johnson and Lacey Johnson, his great grandchildren; Wayde and Hannah Boggs, sister, Nancy Yendrejczyk of Naperville, Ill., niece, Jessica Albach of Naperville, Ill., and great nephew Linus Albach of Naperville, Ill.

Memorial service will be June 6, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Madill Community Center in the William Ray Park, Madill, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.funeralhome.com.
