Orin Everette VanWinkle 67, of Madill, Okla. passed away Friday, September 18, 2020 at his residence. Orin was born on December 26, 1952 in Kirksville, Mo. to the late Ora E. “Shorty“ and Alice England VanWinkle.

He moved to Madill from Colorado when he was in the second grade and was raised in Madill and graduated high school. Then, he decided to compete in rodeos, and he worked for Hoedebeck Welding building horse trailers. Orin also worked at Uniroyal for 10 years. In 1995, Orin opened VanWinkle’s Auto Repair and Orin’s Wrecker Service.

Orin married Velma Rae Griffin on April 5, 1996 in Oakland, Okla. Orin enjoyed mechanical work, riding motorcycles, listening to rock and roll music and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Rae Griffin of Madill, Okla., his sons; Adam VanWinkle and wife Constance of Montana, Josey Woodis and Brook Smith of Portland, Ore., Shane Woodis and wife Tahressa of Garland, Texas, and Michael Woodis of Albuquerque, N.M., his daughter, Marti Cason of McKinney, Texas, his grandchildren; Jakob Dylan VanWinkle, Mason Blake Ogletree, Rowan Robison, and Josey “ Otter “ Woodis.

Orin was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patsy VanWinkle.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Jerry White will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
