Loyd Dewight Harkins

Loyd Dewight Harkins, 69, of Madill, Okla. passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his home in Madill. He was born on February 21, 1955, in Ardmore, Okla. to the late Calvin Ray Harkins Sr. and Mary Agnes Grantham Harkins. Loyd was raised in Healdton, Okla. and in the 3rd grade, he moved to Madill where he graduated High School in 1973. Following graduation, he went to work for Uniroyal Tire Co. and retired in 2000.

Loyd married Shirley Ann Sprouse on May23,1975,inMadill.Hewasamember of the Oakview Baptist Church, and he enjoyed fishing, flying remote control airplanes, playing his guitar, golfing, and hunting. He was an avid stamp and coin collector.

Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, and special niece, Mary Kay Glenn.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Shirley Harkins of Madill, Okla.; children, Margaret Ann Miller and husband Christopher of Madill, Okla., Kathy Rae Glenn and husband Mark of Madill, Okla.; grandchildren, Deanna Woods and husband Kaylan, Mark Glenn II, Benjamin Perkins, Madelyn Miller, Chloe Miller, Matthew Glenn and Macy Perkins; great grandchild, Kope Woods; brothers, Calvin Ray Harkins, Jr. and wife Jan of Madill, Okla. and Harry Oliver Harkins of Munster, Texas.

Visitation was held Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.

The funeral service was 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Greg Idell and Mark Glenn officiated the service. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Okla. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
