John Mark Rushing, 60 of Madill, Okla., went to be with his lord and savior on Wednesday April 15, 2020 at his home in Madill, Okla.

He is survived by his companion of 16 years, Marry Shelton of the home, daughter Callie Shawn Rushing of Denison, Texas, Amanda Nichols of Madill, Okla., and Angela Maldonado of Madill, Okla.; sons Bowen Rushing of Ardmore, Okla., and Jarod Colbert of Madill, Okla.; sisters Laura Rushing and Sherry Hill of Madill, Okla., Patsy Pikulin and husband Ed from Oklahoma City, and Lyn Rushing from Oklahoma city; brothers Alan Rushing and wife Anita Bert of Madill, Okla., John Stacy and wife Missy of Lebanon, Okla., Jim Honca and wife Laura of Wilson, Okla., Bobby Honca of Ardmore, Okla, and Mark Honca and wife Kathi from Madill, Okla., along with numerous grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his closest four-legged furry friend Cupcake “Cuppy.”

Mark was born in Ardmore, Okla. on July 21, 1959 to John D and Linda Murray Rushing. He lived his entire life in the Texoma area. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding bulls and rodeoing. He loved playing his guitar and singing, hanging out with friends and family, and “socializing.” His greatest love of all was hunting on Wilson Creek and fishing with best friends Jamie Scott and Doug Rozell.

His career began working with the water and soil conservation, working many years for Uniroyal, and four years for commercial soil farming before his retirement in 2014. Mark had many friends and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father John Rushing, mother Linda Murray Miller, and son Kelly Caul Carroll.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. It will be announced in the Madill Record.
