Janice Virginia Johnson 83, of Madill, Okla. passed away November 9, 2020 at the Elmbrook Nursing Center in Okla. She was born on November 7, 1937 in Lebanon, Okla. to the late Bill Freeman and Netta Irene Vinson Freeman.

Janice was raised in Madill where she attended school. She married Joe James Johnson on September 18,1954 in Oakland and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2012. Janice worked for Dr. Talley’s dentist office, and Trammels Department store before opening her own clothing store in Madill in 1979, Jans Fashions. She later worked for her mom and step-dad’s business, Da-Renes Department Store and worked as a Cafeteria Manager for Ardmore school and later for Madill schools.

Janice was a member of the Church of Christ in Oakland; she loved her family and cooking. She loved listening to her country music, she always had music in her home.

She is survived by her children; Randy Johnson and wife Sandy of Madill, Okla., Renae Whitley, Madill of Oklahoma, Joe Keith and Tammy of Madill, Okla., her grandchildren; Misty, Dustin Tiffany, April and Haril Jo, nine great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren .

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one granddaughter: Mandy.

Casket Bearers will be Patrick Bridgeman, Cary Baus, Dustin Floyd, Josh Eppler, Kent Freeman and Ryan Stuckey.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Services will be Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Interment will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
