Gary Lynn Ayres, 71, of Madill, Okla. passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Brookside Nursing Center in Madill. He was born on July 4, 1952, in Madill to the late Donald Gene Ayres Sr. and Jewel Maxine Ketchum Ayres. Gary was a lifelong resident of Madill. He attended Madill schools and graduated in 1970 and later attended the Southern Oklahoma Area Vocational Technical Center. HemarriedPaulaMaxeyonMarch 10, 1978, in Madill.

Gary was very active in the community, serving in the Lions Club, Rotary Club, and the Hauani Creek Fire Department. He worked for Madill Bank & Trust, Pierce Trucking and Jackie Bean Dozer Service. He currently owns and operates GaryAyresOilandGasMinerals.Garywasamanwithmany friends, he knew everyone and sent flowers to every family that came through the funeral home. He enjoyed riding the ranger, being the neighborhood watchdog, but his greatest love was being a Poppy.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, son; Gary Don Ayres (son of Gary and Letha Huffman) and sister;,Emily Ayres.

Gary is survived by his wif, Paula Ayres of Madill, Okla.; children, Justin Ayres and wife Jamie of Madill, Okla., Ashley Ayres of Madill, Okla.; Kim Ayres of Ardmore, Okla.; grandchildren, Max Allen, Cooper Allen, Gary Colt Ayres, Addison Ayres, JD Aldridge, Shyann Manifold and husband Tyler, Kyndal Jones, Whitney Aleksic, Harlee Sanchez and husband Sonny; great grandchild, Andersyn Sanchez; siblings, Donnie Ayres and wife Mary of Madill, Okla., Mary Ann Taylor and husband Ronnie of Ada, Okla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service was Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Earl White and Ashley Ayres officiated the service. Interment was at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill, Okla. Services were under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.

Casket Bearers were Shawn Pierce, Chase Pierce, Connor Pierce, Storm Pierce, Brandon Burchfield, Brandon Pickens, Bret Turner and Kyle Jones.

Honorary Bearers were Glen Burns, David Dunn, Rodney Caldwell, Sam Goodwin, E.D. Maxwell, Byron Self, Basil Savage Sr., Rick Jones, Dick Scott (MHS 1970) and Charlie Pruitt (MHS 1970).
