Charles Edward Dudley, 84 of Marlow, Okla. was born on December 1, 1935 to Walter and Opal (Sharp) Dudley near the community of Alex, Okla.

He married Marjorie Jo Hambleton on December 17, 1955. Charles graduated from Alex High School in 1954. He pursued a teaching career and graduated from East Central University in December of 1959.

Charles returned to Alex as a sixth grade teacher in 1960, working with both girls and boys basketball. In the fall of 1961, he became head football coach and the girls high school basketball coach. Those sixth grade girls became the nucleus of the teams that went to the state tournaments in 1964, 1965, and culminating in the state finals in 1967. Over the next 28 years he coached football and girls basketball at Tuttle, Konawa, Davis, Madill, and Tishomingo. He retired from education in 1989.

After retirement, he and Jo traveled some years before moving to Lake Humphrey in Marlow, Okla. in 2001 where they now reside. Charles was inducted into the Grady County Coaches Association in the fall of 2015 and the Alex Alumni Hall of Fame in 2019.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo of the home; son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Dudley of Antlers; brothers, James Dudley of Maysville. Joe Dudley of Stratford; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Rita West of Edmond; grandchildren, Joe and Sarah Eastwood, Jake Dudley and Stone Dudley; great grandchildren, Sam, Judah, and Jobe Eastwood; sister-in-law, Shannon Davis; brother-in-law, Neal Hambleton and wife Mauverdyne; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Opal Dudley; and a son, Steve Dudley.
