October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma is a certified domestic violence and sexual assault program offering free services to men, women and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence and stalking.

Located in Ardmore, Oklahoma the Family Shelter of Southern Oklahoma primarily serves Carter, Love, Johnston, Marshall, and Murray counties. Advocates travel to each county served to meet victims if transportation is not easily accessed.

Each year over 500 men, women and children are provided services free of charge, including safe shelter and 24-hour emergency assistance, crisis intervention, safety planning, food and clothing, transportation, counseling, legal and medical advocacy as well as support groups and domestic violence education classes. Community education and training over domestic violence and sexual assault are also available.
