Class reunions date back to the late nineteenth century. These events aren’t always as scary and crazy as seen in movies. A reunion is an opportunity for members of a specific graduating class to reconnect, and a chance for people to catch up with old friends.

It is also an opportunity to get to know former high school classmates and friends as adults as well as reminisce about memories from their younger days. Many people who chose to move away from their hometowns would possibly never get the chance to see their old classmates without these reunions.

Sometimes, attending a reunion proves some closure after a difficult experience in school or even the opportunity to honor those classmates lost throughout the years. Typically, high school reunions are held in five-to-ten-year increments after graduation. However, there are tons of variations of ways they can be held and or ganized. When class reunions were first created and were held in 1870, class reunions were scheduled a mere six months after graduation. This was because the life expectancy was so low at the time, classmates wanted the reunions held before many of them died from gout or lead poisoning. There are a few Madill

There are a few Madill reunions slotted for this year. There are three reunions scheduled for April 30, 2022. They are the Class of ’62 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Basil Savage Equipment, the Class of ’67 is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Scott and Janet Landgraff’s home, the Class of ’72 is from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Hobo Joes. The Class of 1977 is on May 7 at the Senior Citizens Center and starts at 11:00 a.m. They all encourage guests to bring spouses and/ or significant others, as well as any pictures, yearbooks, and scrapbooks.

For any alumni whose class reunion year is approaching or maybe they haven’t heard about it, put out feelers on social media, call former classmates, or even reach out to the high school and see if they have a listing of the reunions being held. If not, take charge and start planning one. A lot of work goes into planning a successful reunion, so reaching out to other classmates would be highly encouraged.
