TISHOMINGO-The Family Health Center of Southern Oklahoma announces the retirement of board member Dick Sowder when his term ends in September 2020.
Mr. Sowder has been a dedicated member of the FHCSO Board of Directors since September of 2005. During his 15 years on the board he served as a member, Vice President and as President from 2008 to 2020. Mr. Sowder’s board contributions derived from his 20 years of military service retiring as a Major in the United States Army, and as a retired pastor at the Church of the Nazarene. His service is greatly appreciated including years of community involvement with the Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion and participating in numerous disaster response efforts for hurricane and flood sites over the years.
“We have dearly loved living in the Tishomingo community. Serving alongside the FHCSO board has been extremely fulfilling to watch the growth go from a modular building to the four clinics we have today,” said Sowder. “Its success is due to a board of visionaries working in unity toward a purpose along with the county commissioners. It saddens me to leave a wonderful board and repour of people.” Mr. Sowder and his wife Ellen plan on traveling to see more of the country.

Dick has brought a strong and balanced perspective plus a wealth of experience into every board meeting. He led the FHCSO board during the pivotal time when we embarked on our journey to expand our healthcare service lines while repositioning the organization to capture growth opportunities in surrounding areas. Both the board and the management teams are deeply appreciative of Dick’s service,” said Tina Davis, CEO, FHCSO. “We wish him the very best in his retirement and consider it an honor to have served our communities with him.”
