Beggs Trips Kingston to End Historic Redskin Football Season

After dominating wins in their first two playoff games, the Kingston Redskins went on the road Friday night to Beggs to play the Golden Demons in the State Semifinals. On a beautiful fall night, in front of a packed house, the Redskins gave the Demons all they could handle, but ultimately fell short in a heartbreaking 36-31 loss.

The Redskins dominated early. On Beggs’ first play from scrimmage, senior quarterback ,Dalton Spring, threw a backward pass that fell incomplete. The Redskins jumped on the live ball at the Beggs 4 to start their first drive. The Demons’ defense held, however, and the game remained scoreless when Kingston senior, Trey Keatts, was unable to connect on a short field goal.

It would not remain scoreless for long. After junior Caleb Yeager sacked Spring to end the next Beggs drive, Kingston’s offense responded with a four-play drive that ended with senior Braden McGehee running for a 30-yard touchdown to put the Redskins ahead 7-0.

Kingston Advances to Second Round of Class 2A State Playoffs

By Michael Haggerty

A cold front moved through Southern Oklahoma last week, bringing with it a freeze warning Friday night. The Royals from Community Christian School in Norman drove down to Kingston, hoping that the temperatures might cool off the red-hot Redskins as the two teams met for the first round of the Class 2A State Playoffs. The Redskins had other ideas. Kingston made the playoffs in 2016 and 2017, only to be dismissed in the first round both times. Coming off their first District title since the 1980s, the Redskins sought to advance in the playoffs for the first time since 2015. }

Kingston Downs Comanche to Continue District Domination

By Michael Haggerty

Last Wednesday, Mother Nature dumped another batch of rain on the already-saturated soils of Oklahoma. Friday night, the Kingston Redskins traveled to Comanche to face the Indians on a field that resembled an enormous, dimly-lit quagmire by the end of the contest. Undeterred by either the mud or the darkness, the Redskins lit up the scoreboard in their ongoing quest for a District crown and blew out Comanche 50-12. Comanche’s spread offense turned out to be no match for Kingston’s tenacious defense.
