Roland “Ronnie” Chester Etherton

Roland “Ronnie” Chester Etherton, 84, of Wichita, Kan., army veteran and retired Boeing fabricator, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018. He was preceded by his parents: Ivan and Alice Etherton; and sister, Maxine McCoy. He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Thelma Etherton; son: Ivan (Tammy) Etherton; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ronnie’s visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church, 3600 W. 2nd St., Wichita, KS 67203. Burial followed at Farmington Cemetery in Wilson County, near Fredonia, Kan. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church or Amedisys Hospice.

Emmitt (Rusty) Taylor Gilcrease

Mr. Emmitt (Rusty) Taylor Gilcrease, 96, left this life peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at his home in Madill, Okla. He was born in Orr, Okla., on Feb. 26, 1922, to the late Mr. Zacharia Taylor Gilcrease and Mrs. Carol Dona (Patty) Gilcrease. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, Okla. Rev. Mike Williams officiated. Interment was at Crow Cemetery in Love County. Services were under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson. Mr. Gilcrease had a long, full life starting at a young age working on his father’s 640-acre farm. He then joined the army on April 10, 1944, receiving the EAME Theater Campaign Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army of Occupation Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, and two Overseas Service Bars. He also prepared documentation for the Nuremberg trials. At one time he worked at a gas station in Santa Fe for $1.00 a day and slept in the back on a cot.

Cynthia (Cindy) Lynn King

Cynthia (Cindy) Lynn King 51, of Kingston, Okla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at the hospital in Ardmore, Okla. She was born on March 4, 1967, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Hubert Eugene Weaver and Mamie Sue Allen Weaver. She was raised in the Oklahoma City, Okla., area where she attended school. Cindy worked at the Nuway Cleaners and Hertz Call Center in Oklahoma City. She married Teddy Ray King on April 28, 1990, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Cindy moved to Marshall County in 2002, and she has worked the past 16 years for the Chickasaw Gaming Center in Madill. She enjoyed reading books and loved spending time with her family and grandkids.

David James Tynes

Funeral services for David James Tynes, 51, of Gordonville, Texas, will be held at New Beginnings Church in Madill, Okla., on (today) Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. H.H. Davis, Rev. Travis Williams, and Rev. Don Williams. Interment will follow at Lone Cedar Cemetery in Mannsville, Okla. The family received friends and family at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas, on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. David passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, at his home in Gordonville. He was born on Aug. 8, 1966, in Ardmore, Okla. to James David and Mary (King) Tynes. He married his wife of 30 years, Teresa Davis, in Ardmore on March 12, 1988. He worked as a grocery store manager since 1984.

James Allin Holt Jr.

James Allin Holt Jr. or better known by his friends as “Puddin” passed from this life on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Family Care Center of Kingston at the age of 51 years. James was born in Muskogee, Okla., on Nov. 14, 1966, to the late Edna May (Burris) Holt. He moved to Kingston, Okla., from Carlsbad, N.M., 26 years ago. James was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing. James worked as a carpenter for most of his working life. James was married to Terrie Lynn Folsom. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 2016. James leaves behind to cherish his memory: his father: Bill Upton; sons: James Holt III (Trey), of Kingston, Okla.; Corey Shane Chavis, of Kingston, Okla.; daughters: Brittany Dollar, of Kingston, Okla.; Sarah Prouty, of Carlsbad, N.M.; brother: Bobby Upton, of Ardmore, Okla. James also leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his mother: Edna May Holt; wife: Terrie Lynn (Folsom) Holt; brothers: Billie Upton and Greg Upton.

Denzil Lloyd Cantrell

Denzil Lloyd Cantrell, 62, of Madill, Okla., passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his home in Madill. He was born on June 29, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany, to Dorris Joe Cantrell and Anita Inez Adams Self. Denzil was raised in Madill where he graduated from Madill High School in 1974. He worked for the peanut company and later for W. W. Trailers as a welder where he retired in 2012. Denzil attended the Grantham Baptist Church, and he enjoyed reading books and watching TV. He is survived by his mother: Anita Ines Self, Madill, Okla.; stepdad: Billy Ezra Self, Sr., Madill, Okla.; son: Nichols Joseph Cantrell; stepdaughter: Lacy Cooper, Colbert, Okla.; grandson: Jerimiah Denzil Cantrell; step-grandchildren: Libby, Scott and Hayden; brothers: Jim Calvin Cantrell, Tishomingo, Okla.; Ray Lynn Cantrell, Madill, Okla.; Billy Ezra Self, Jr., Mineola, Texas; sister: Nita Jo Graves, Bonham, Texas. Denzil was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents; Moose and Zella Adams.
