Dean LaMar Albers

Dean LaMar Albers, 83 of Madill, passed away Friday, Feb. 26 2016, at the Family Care Center in Kingston. He was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Union City, to the late Henry William Albers and Theta Althea Garrett Albers. Dean was raised in Union City where he graduated high school. He married Shirley Adams on Nov. 26, 1952, in El Reno, and she preceded him in death in 1988.

Cynthia Ann Burgess

Cynthia Ann Burgess, 57 of Kingston, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at the hospital in Durant. She was born on Oct. 26, 1959, in Fresno, Calif., to the late Kenneth and Naoma Pickens. Cindy was raised in Fresno where she graduated high school. She moved to the Kingston area in 1985 where she lived the rest of her life. Cindy married James Dewayne Burgess on Aug.

G. William “Bill” Rice

G. William “Bill” Rice, a longtime attorney and Professor of Native Law at the University of Tulsa, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, with his family by his side at the age of 64. Wake services were held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at the Sac and Fox Community Center, south of Stroud. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at the Sac and Fox Community Center, south of Stroud. Interment will follow at Hunter Cemetery, Cushing. Okla. Arrangements were entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Bill was born on Aug. 3, 1951, in Anadarko, to the late Edgar William and Dorris Irene (Aldridge) Rice. He graduated from Madill High School in 1969. Bill attended Phillips University in Enid, graduating with a B.A. in Chemistry in 1973; Lowell Technological Institute in Lowell, Mass., graduating with M.S.

Doyle Leonidias Garrison

Doyle Leonidias Garrison, 86, of Oakland, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at his son’s home in Cookson. He was born on Aug. 10, 1929, in Madill, to Ivy Garrison and Viola Jackson Garrison. Doyle was raised in the Durwood and Simpson area. He attended school in Simpson and later worked on ranches in the area, breaking horses. Doyle married Betty Marie Thompson on Jan. 21, 1952, in Madill, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 2015. Doyle also worked at the Madill Pants Factory before going to work for Frisco/Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad where he worked from 1966 to 1997, and retired after 30 years. He was a member of the Madill Church of Christ, and he enjoyed gardening, old cars, trains, horses and playing the guitar. He is survived by his children; D.

Grandalyn “Granny” Self Wilson

Grandalyn “Granny” Self Wilson, 89, of Madill, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016. She was born on March 29, 1926, in Madill, to the late George Henry Self and Carrie Ann Nolty Self. Grandalyn was raised and lived her entire life in Madill. She worked at the Madill Pants Factory and retired after 25 years. Grandalyn enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, along with family and friends. She loved being outside working in her garden, quilting, sewing and cooking for her family. She is survived by her son; Danny Wilson and wife, Janet, Enville; daughters, Helen Garrett and husband, Kenneth, Gladewater, Texas, Ruth Richards and husband, Robert, Madill; one granddaughter, Angela Richards; eight grandsons, Russell Wilson, Danny Wilson, Charlie Turner, Steven Richards, Brad Turner, Brandon Turner, Greg Wilson, and Cougan Collins, and 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
