Jeri Lyn Lipe Watts

Jeri Lyn Lipe Watts was born on July 14, 1942, in Madill, Okla., to Jack Lipe and Jim Evelyn Ware. She passed from this life on Sept. 27, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. She was raised in Tulsa, Okla., and then married Robert Wendyl Watts on April 5, 1959. Jeri and Robert began their life together in Norman, Okla., until Robert finished his degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1961. They moved to Madill after his graduation with their two daughters, Robbie Lyn and Laura Lee. Paul Wendyl Watts II and Robert Wendyl Watts II were born in Madill to Jeri making her the proud mother of all four of her children. She had three beautiful grandchildren, Makenzie, Chase and Tanner, and a great-granddaughter, Makena Lyn, who always made her smile. Jeri loved attending all of her kid’s sporting events. She will be remembered most for her cheering them and their friends on and even running up and down the bleachers a few times trying to help her kids cross the finish line first!

Joseph Lynn Moore

Joseph Lynn Moore was born on July 4, 1964, in Odessa, Texas, to Charles Moore and Geneva Forguson. Lynn passed away on Sept. 26, 2018, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 54. Lynn has been a lifelong resident of Marshall County, and he married Tina Barber on Oct. 25, 1998. He was a truck driver and most recently worked for Cyclone Trucking in Madill, Okla., and was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, football, and baseball. But, most of all he deeply loved his family, and his favorite thing of all was having cookouts with family and friends. Lynn was preceded in death by his brother: Alan Moore; daughter: Deana Bozeman; infant sister: Jessica Faith Moss; and grandparents: Edna and Tobe Forguson.

Sunny Rae Muncrief

Sunny Rae Muncrief, 82, of Madill, Okla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born on July 12, 1936, in Pampa, Texas, to the late Douglas Pierce and Esther Wiginton Pierce. Sunny was raised in Pampa where she graduated high school. She married Richard Monroe Muncrief on Feb. 2, 1955, in Pampa, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2017. In 1963 Richard and Sunny moved to Hugoton, Kan., where she lived 15 years before moving to Madill where she lived the rest of her life. Sunny was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, and she was very proud of her Choctaw heritage. She enjoyed quilting, antiquing, making picture books, going to Gorrell’s and working out with the Silver Sneakers program, and driving through the Talihina Drive. Her greatest love of all was spending time with her family and being “Memaw” to her grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Linda Darlene Mandrell

Linda Darlene Mandrell was born on Aug. 24, 1956, in Merkle, Texas, to Gail Arthur and Martha Darlene (Blackwell) Baker. Linda passed away on Sept. 25, 2018, in Madill, Okla., at the age of 62. Linda attended school in Texas and moved to Marshall County in 1987. She married Richard Mandrell in 2001. Linda was a loving and devoted homemaker to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was of the Pentecostal faith, and she enjoyed butterflies, baby dolls, jewelry, and wishbones. Most of all she loved and treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandbabies. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Jerry and Robert Baker; sister: Martha Neaves; granddaughter: Amber Nicole; son-in-law: Charles Alan Moore, and daughter: Tracie Couch.

J.W. Bennett

J.W. Bennett of Madill, Okla., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018. J.W. was born July 9, 1927, in the Russett community to the late James Bennett and Mary Etta Waggner Bennett. He grew up in many interesting places as his father worked in the oil fields and was always on the move, but Russett was always home. Like his father, J.W. worked in the oil fields and gas plants. J.W. worked as a mechanic in Huntington Beach, Calif., and Fox, Okla. He loved to fix things. He loved to help his family and neighbors and was always happiest when he was fixing things. J.W. also loved the Lord and was an active member in the Church of Christ. For nearly 72 years J.W. was married to Billie Bigger Bennett. J.W. is survived by his wife: Billie; his son: James Bennett, Jr. and his wife, Donna; one grand daughter: Jennifer Clasby and her husband, Aaron; one grandson: Scott Bennett; one sister: Mary Ann Slack; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct.

Ronnie Joe Hagood

Ronnie Joe Hagood, 74, of Lebanon, Okla., passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at his home. He was born on March 29, 1944, in Orr, Okla., to the late Dolph Eugene Hagood JR. and Melba Letha Furrh. Ron moved to Lebanon after his parents bought a store in 1958. He graduated from Madill High School in 1962, and then began attending Southeastern State University. Ron joined the army in 1968, and was a medic during the Vietnam War, serving for four years. After his discharge Ron finished college and married Karoleen Henry in 1973. The two raised their family in Ardmore before moving to Lebanon in 2000. During his life Ron worked as a seismic land man for 40 years, a job that allowed him to travel across the United States, and make friends all over. His passions in life were his race horses and registered Angus cattle. More than anything, Ron loved and cherished his family and friends.

Betty Jean Miller

Betty Jean Miller, 92, of Madill, Okla., passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at the Family Care Center, Kingston, Okla. She was born on June 17, 1926, in Grantham, Marshall County to the late L.L. (Bill) Sparlin and Kathryn Nichols Sparlin. Betty married J.B. Birdsall on Sept. 20, 1943. He preceded her in death as did their two children, Michael D. and Karen Kay Birdsall. On Feb. 9, 1981, Betty married R.B. (Ben) Miller, a retired Army veteran. The two formed their own vending business and worked for 12 years, retiring permanently in 2006. Ben passed away Aug. 25, 2011. They were married for 30 years. Betty lived most of her life in Marshall County working as a secretary. She enjoyed working with people, quilting, cooking, and teaching her S.S. classes. She is survived by her son: Bennett D. Miller, Madill, Okla.; stepdaughter: Caroline Miller Monroe, Ark.; grandchild: Steven Wilkes Birdsall; six great-grandchildren; and half brother: Joe Sparlin, Ardmore, Okla.

Donald Benard Fortenberry

Donald Benard Fortenberry, 79, of Wylie, Texas, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at the Vitas Hospice Care Center in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on March 28, 1939, in Durant, Okla., to the late Troy Alvin Fortenberry and Johnnie Pauline Cornell Fortenberry. Donald was raised in Durant where he graduated high school and later received a business degree at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas. He married Jackie Miller on May 28, 1960, in Madill, Okla. Donald worked for 49 years in the grocery retail business, 37 of those years being with Albertson’s where he retired as store director at the age of 62. In his younger years he liked to go bowling and played on a bowling league. After he retired he enjoyed playing at the casino, collecting coins, traveling to South Texas, and loved working jigsaw puzzles.
