Celebrating our birthdays with some light reading

As you have probably heard on the radio or elsewhere, today marks America’s 243rd birthday. The United States of America has served as a beacon of hope and a living experiment in democracy since its founding on this day in 1776.

With last week’s issue dated June 27, 2019, The Madill Record marked the beginning of another year with the first paper of our 125th volume.

And while The Madill Record will never be as old as this wonderful country we call home, we are both living things. We are both growing and changing every day. Sometimes that change is good and sometimes it isn’t.

Rather than talk about the issues facing our nation and communities today, we would like to pause and share something with you. This week, The Madill Record would like to share the original Declaration of Independence in its entirety. We want the document that is the basis for our nation and our closest held beliefs to speak for itself and be on the hearts and minds of our readers ahead of this holiday weekend.
