Man leads multiple police on high speed chase

A bad split-second decision landed a man in jail for multiple infractions.

A 31-year-old was arrested on June 7 after leading the Kingston Police Department and other agencies on a high speed chase through two counties.

Kingston Police Chief John Bridgeman said it all started with a theft call at a local liquor store.

“I was trying to locate a vehicle that had just been involved in a theft at R&R liquor,” Bridgeman stated in his police report.

When he was heading toward the store, Bridgeman said he noted that ODOT had the northbound lane backed up due to construction.

Bridgeman then turned around on Dallas Drive when he noticed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle turning onto Highway

70. Once he passed the vehicle and was able to read the tag, he noticed the tag was identical to the information given to him by dispatch.
