Kingston Police Chief signs off with retirement

Kingston Police Chief John Canoe dedicated thirty years to being a Madill Police Officer which came to an end on May 31 when Canoe hung up his radio and retired from the Kingston Police Department.

Canoe’s journey began in 1986 when he joined the Oakland Police Department and was the sole police officer until 1988. He joined the Kingston Police Department in 1989.

He held the title of police chief for twenty-eight years — he was promoted in 1991.

The city staff and officers showed their appreciation for Canoe’s dedication by hosting a retirement party for him.
