John Michael “Mike” Pierce

John Michael “Mike” Pierce, 70, of Davis, Okla., passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019, in Davis. He was born Dec. 23, 1948, in Sulphur, Okla., to the late John Charles Pierce and Wanda Lou Sapp Pierce.

Mike was raised in Sulphur until the age of 14 when he moved to Madill, Okla. He graduated from Madill High School in 1967 and later attended Murray State and East Central University. Mike married Linda Dell Talley on July 4, 1970 in Davis. He served in the Army National Guard from 1970 to 1975, during this time, he and Linda moved to the Dallas area where he worked in the sheet metal and high rise construction trade. They moved back to Madill in 1985 and started Pierce Sheet Metal in 1987.

Mike changed careers in the mid 90s when he went to work for BNSF Railroad as a Conductor and Engineer until his retirement. During retirement, he and Linda spent time traveling around the country with friends. He loved sitting with Linda rocking on the front porch of their “dream” home in Davis.

Mike also enjoyed anything that was OU related, fishing, tinkering with his jeep, but mostly following his kids and grandkids around to whatever event they were participating in.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Pierce, Davis, Okla.; son: Marc Pierce and wife, Alexis, Moore, Okla.; and two grandchildren: Avery and Whitney Pierce

He was preceded in by his parents, and one son; Chad Michael Pierce.

Visitation was Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.

Service are (today) Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Okla. Todd McRay will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Okla. Casket bearers were: Brett Aleen, Drew Royals, Zac Lee, Ron Robertson, Rockey Talley and Chase Pierce.
