Robert (Bob) Franklin Butler Sr.

Robert (Bob) Franklin Butler Sr., 77, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019, at his home in Kingston, Okla. He was born Jan. 13, 1942, in McAlister, Okla., to the late James Robert Butler and Frances Jane Hart. Bob was raised in Kiowa, Okla., where he graduated high school in 1960. He later joined the United States Navy and served for six years during the Vietnam War era.

Bob attended Southeastern State University where he earned his education degree. After years of teaching high school and earning his Master’s degree, Bob went on to serve as the principal at Putnam City High School, where he remained for 16 years.

Among his many honors and achievements in the field of education, Bob was especially proud of being elected the “Administrator of the Year” for 1988 by the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals.

He married Pearlene Munsell on Oct. 23, 2004, in Lago Vista, Texas. The couple moved to Kingston, Okla., a year later, where they built a home by Lake Texoma. Bob enjoyed living near the lake, taking every opportunity to hunt, fish, boat, ride ATVs, work in the yard, and in his younger days, water ski. His greatest loves were those he left behind: his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his spouse: Pearlene Butler, Kingston, Okla.; children: Robert F. Butler, Jr. and LaVitta Wigley, Cole, Okla.; Robin Palmer, Guthrie, Okla.; grandchildren: Kayla Cavner, Dustin Butler, Hannah Palmer, Riley Walker, Rori Walker, Aidan Shaw, and Evie Shaw; great-grandchildren: Maverick Cavner and Maddox Cavner.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother; sister; and one son: Rex Butler.
