Thurston Wayne Moore

Thurston Wayne Moore, 88, of Madill, Okla., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at his home in Madill. He was born on Dec. 8, 1930, to the late Dewie Moore and Margaret Word Moore in Hollis, Okla. Thurston was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated in 1949 from Ron High School.

Thurston married the love of his life, Pansy Strickland, on Sept. 8, 1949, in Hollis. They then moved to Lubbock, Texas, where Thurston worked at Cobbs Department Store for two years. He joined the United States Army and was stationed in Pine Bluff, Ark., serving for two years. They moved back home to Hollis in 1956, and owned and operated the Daisy Queen for 30 years. In 1990, he and Pansy moved to Willis, Okla., and worked an ostrich farm for eight years. In 1998, he retired and was enjoying life. Thurston attended the Powell Church of Christ and was a strong believer in Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his children: David Moore and wife, Linda, Enid, Okla., grandchildren: J. T. Moore and wife, Stormi, Kingston, Okla.; Bailey Jones and husband, Brad, Kingston, Okla.; Keeven Moore, Denver, Colo.; Jennifer Cole and husband, Brian, Wichita, Kan.; great-grandchildren: Madison and Judge Jones, Kingston, Okla.; Slayton, Hunter, and Jayden Moore, Kingston, Okla.; Trent Roberts, Kingston, Okla.; Cameron Roberts and wife, Morgan, Kingston, Okla.; Nicholas and Nathan Cole, Wichita, Okla.; great great-grandchildren: Brinlee, Brantley, Braelynn, and Briar Roberts, Kingston, Okla.; and a host of family and friends to cherish his memory.

Thurston was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one son: Tommy Moore, and one daughter-in-law: Della Moore

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, 11 a.m. at the Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla. Chris Webb, Gary Webb, and David Rodriquez officiated the service. Interment was Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Fairmont Cemetery, Hollis, Okla.

Casket bearers were: Steve Buckaloo, BJ Bellettini, Chad Hawkins, Larry Evans, JT Moore, and Brad Jones.

Honorary bearers were: Judge Jones, Cameron Roberts, Trent Roberts, Cy Moore, Garland Jones, Doug Testerman, Nicholas Cole, Nathan Cole, Keeven Moore, Jayden Moore, Hunter Moore, and Slayton Moore.
