Michael “Mike” Howell Dollar

Michael “Mike” Howell Dollar, 71, of Madill, Okla., passed from this life on Jan. 2, 2019, in Yukon, Okla., from an extended illness. He was born on Dec. 1, 1947, in Norman, Okla., to Ira and Janie Dollar.

He graduated from Madill High School in Madill, Okla., and worked for many years operating heavy equipment in Oklahoma. He also worked overseas, including on the Sakhalin Island in Russia and with Cudd Well Pressure Co., extinguishing and capping oil well fires in Kuwait while working with Red Adair. In addition, he also worked on projects for the Federal EPA Superfund Cleanup in numerous states for many years while living in North Carolina. His proudest career accomplishment was voluntarily running heavy equipment during the Oklahoma City bombing disaster.

He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Dollar and spouse, Adam Ragsdale, of Edmond, Okla.; Kristen Dollar Tilly, of Edmond, Okla.; Sylvir Dollar, of Hendersonville, N.C.; grandchildren: Haley Dollar, of Spartanburg, S.C.; Lauren Tilly, Edmond, Okla.; Grant Tilly, Edmond, Okla.; sister: Nancy Dollar Hadlock and husband, Arlon, Mustang, Okla.; nieces: Tammy Garvin and Marsha Lovelace; great nieces: Paige Garvin, Kyla Lovelace, and Sophie Tally; great nephews: Derek Garvin and Brayden Lovelace.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ira and Janie Dollar; and two sons: Robert Dollar and Matthew Dollar.

Services were Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Okla. Randy Sholund officiated the service. Honorary bearers were: George French, Cline Johnson, Michael Oliver, and James Chapman.
