1% Sales Tax Continues

Marshall County-Owned Hospital will Receive 1 Percent of Sales Tax Collected

On Tuesday, Jan. 8, concerned residents of Marshall County took time out of their day to cast their ballots at the polls. With 68.85 percent of the vote “for” the proposition to continue designating 1 percent of the sales tax in Marshall County to be used by the Board of Control of the Marshall County HMA,LLC dba AllianceHealth Madill (Marshall County-owned hospital), the proposition passed. Sam Huffman, Chairman of the Board of Control for the hospital said, “We thank the community and are proud of our hospital.” This 1 percent will continue to be used for capital expenditures and indigent care. A total of 1,136 people in Marshall County voiced their opinion and voted on the matter. Seven hundred forty-eight people voted “for” the proposition. That breaks down to:
