Joe Ray Wenthold

Joe Ray Wenthold, 80, of Kingston, Okla., passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at the hospital in Durant, Okla. He was born on Sept. 6, 1938, in Elk City, Okla., to the late George Wenthold and Evelyn Kathleen Kalhoffer Wenthold. He was raised in Oklahoma City, Okla., and graduated from the Capital Hill High School in 1956. Joe worked as a mechanic at Murphy and Perkins, Mistletoe Express, City Services and Oxy Oil and Gas for 17 years. He was married to Janelle Wenthold for 27 years, and she preceded him in death in 1987. He married Kathleen Porter on June 24, 1989, in Oklahoma City. He retired and moved to Kingston in 1998. Joe was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Madill and enjoyed gardening, wine making, fishing, and being around his grandkids. He is survived by his wife: Kathleen Wenthold, Kingston, Okla.; children: Monty Wenthold, Kingston, Okla.; Christopher Wenthold, Kingston, Okla.; Ty Wenthold, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Jason Wenthold, Oklahoma City, Okla.; stepchildren: Bart Trevino, Waseca, Minn.; Nicholas Puleski, Hudson, N.H.; Korena Buchholtz, Alabama.; Sister: Donna Yohey, Oklahoma City, Okla.; 17 grandchildren: Ryan, Kalee, Shanna, Zach, Alex, Aaron, Derek, Allison, Miranda; stepgrandchildren: Cameron, Nathan, Ethan, Todd, Mirassa, Aaron, Joshua, Logan; six great-grandchildren: Addison, Collin, Wyatt, Case, Silas, and Jude. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Dwayne Wenthold. Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla., from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary Service by Daniel Miller at 7 p.m. Services are (today) Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Madill, Okla. Father Oby Zunmas will officiate the service. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Okla. Casket bearers are: Ryan Wenthold, Derek Nickell, Aaron Nickell, Zach Wenthold, Alex Wenthold, and Wyatt James.
